The LA Clippers are on the hunt for a trade this offseason, and the team has its sights set on a number of top players. Here are the top three trade targets of the Clippers.
3. Doug McDermott
Coming in at number three is Doug McDermott from the San Antonio Spurs. With the Clippers looking to improve their three-point volume, McDermott would be a great fit. The veteran sharpshooter has finished six out of his nine NBA seasons with a 40-plus percent splash rate. He's also approaching the final season of his contract, making him a logical trade candidate.
2. James Harden
Number two on the list is 10-time All-Star James Harden, who could be an interesting addition if the Clippers look to move Kawhi Leonard or Paul George. Harden has enough playmaking and off-ball ability to make it work, and his addition would prevent the franchise from tying its championship hopes to Russell Westbrook. The ideal trade for both sides could be a deal in which Harden and impending free agent Paul Reed are moved for George.
1. Julius Randle
The number one trade target for the Clippers is Julius Randle from the New York Knicks. With Randle not having a concrete future with his current franchise, he could be a valuable asset to the Clippers. Tom Thibodeau's appetite for quality defenders could prompt him to trade Randle if it meant landing Kawhi Leonard or Paul George. Additionally, the Knicks adding Kawhi or PG would make them far more difficult to defend.
The prior trades on the list have been moves that paired Kawhi with a new dance partner in LA, but this move would send Kawhi to New York. The Knicks will likely view his stoic disposition as ideal in a market that has rattled multiple players.
The Clippers are making moves and are poised to be a strong competitor in the NBA next season. Fans will have to wait and see which of these trade targets becomes a reality for the team.
