JOHN COLLINS
The Indiana Pacers are in need of a reliable power forward to complete their starting lineup, and John Collins could be the answer. Despite being on the Atlanta Hawks for all six of his NBA seasons, Collins’ role has been decreasing and the Hawks have been struggling. Collins would bring a potent pick and roll combination with Haliburton, and if he can recapture his groove from long range, he will also provide an added outside threat.
PJ WASHINGTON
PJ Washington from the Charlotte Hornets is another power forward option for the Pacers. At only 24 years old and in his fourth season in the NBA, Washington has shown solid growth and has room for more. He has improved his scoring each season, averaging a career-high 15.7 points this season without losing efficiency. His versatility on defense would also make him a great fit for the Pacers.
KHRIS MIDDLETON
Acquiring a player of Khris Middleton’s caliber would be costly, but it could be beneficial for both the Indiana Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks. This trade would require the Pacers to try to sign/trade with the Bucks to ensure Middleton is on board for a handful of seasons alongside Tyrese. This would cost the Pacers multiple starters and Theis for salary matching, as well as two future first-round picks. It would give the Bucks additional players for their rotation, add shooting around Giannis in the form of Hield, and recover some lost draft capital.
The Pacers already have a plethora of lengthy guards and wings surrounding Myles Turner, but they lack a reliable power forward. Jalen Smith and Isaiah Jackson have the size of a power forward, but they don’t really play like one. Collins and Washington could both fill that need.
Assuming the Pacers don’t have to get rid of Turner to acquire Collins or Washington, they would create formidable trios with Haliburton and potentially dangerous foursomes if Bennedict Mathurin continues to develop. Collins could slot straight into the starting lineup and provide an added outside threat if he can recapture his groove from long range, while Washington’s versatility on defense would make him a great fit for the Pacers.
