NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers-Mavericks Luka Doncic deal is a real possibility?

There could be a Lakers plan that could be a game-changer in the Kyrie situation. It's a more strategic, long-term approach that could be quite cunning. Admittedly, it's also highly unrealistic, but hear me out.

What the Lakers need to do is treat Kyrie Irving like a Trojan horse. They must build up his value and potential to be a part of a championship-winning core. They should use all their Klutch connections to promote Irving's worth to other teams, especially to the Dallas Mavericks, who are in desperate need of a superstar-level addition.

The Mavericks' new general manager, Nico Harrison, has already suffered a significant blow in losing Jalen Brunson, who was nearly an All-Star player. Meanwhile, owner Mark Cuban is facing criticism for his team's lack of success in attracting big stars. The Porzingis situation has also blown up, further damaging the team's reputation. And to top it all off, rumors of Luka Doncic's future with the Mavericks are already starting to swirl.

That's where the Trojan horse comes in. The Lakers need to drop Kyrie Irving into the Mavericks' culture, alongside Doncic, and watch the sparks fly. If Irving couldn't make it work in Brooklyn, how will he fare in Texas?

The long-term goal here is to steal Doncic from the Mavericks and make him the new face of the Lakers. To achieve this, the Lakers must coax Irving into Dallas and wait for the situation to blow up. It may take a few years for it all to play out, but eventually, the Lakers could acquire Doncic and add him to their roster.

This plan is similar to Brian Windhorst's prediction from a year ago regarding Kyrie. Windhorst suggested that the best move for a team wasn't to trade for Irving but to let his situation blow up and wait for Kevin Durant to say he wants out.

As for Doncic's recent behavior, he seems to be going through a difficult personal time, as evidenced by his slow walk to the bench, failure to reciprocate high fives, and sitting separately from the huddle. It's not just a reaction to a 30-16 deficit to the Hornets.
